Angela Mahecha
Director of Culture and Design
Angela Mahecha is a Climate Justice leader originally from Colombia. She serves as the Director of Culture and Design at the Tishman Environment and Design Center, where she works with frontline alliances, movement-support organizations, philanthropic and base-building grassroots groups, and leaders to disrupt design and develop multisector solutions on clean energy, climate resiliency, and environmental justice community infrastructure.
She has served as a leader of multiple organizations, including the Climate Justice Alliance, It Takes Roots, the Rising Majority, La Via Campesina North America, US Food Sovereignty Alliance, the Rural Coalition, Friends of People Affected by Dams from Brazil, and the Green New Deal National Network, mobilizing hundreds of thousands to power-build.
As a natural weaver, she facilitates relationships between philanthropy and academia with those on the frontlines. In her advisory roles with partners like the Mosaic Fund, the Frontline Justice Fund, and others, she has been able to move hundreds of millions to the grassroots. Angela lives in Florida with her partner, elders, teens, toddler, and Xoloitzcuintli.
