Climate Desk Live: AI, Energy, and Our Fight for Democracy and a Healthy, Affordable Future

  • Tishman Auditorium 63 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

Save the date for the Climate Week 2026 Keynote Event at The New School, presented by Climate Desk Live partners Mother Jones, Capital B News, and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, in collaboration with the Tishman Environment & Design Center at The New School.

As part of Climate Week NYC, Climate Desk Live convenes leading journalists, elected officials, researchers, and community advocates for a morning of timely conversations about the systems shaping our climate future and who gets to decide what comes next.

This year's program examines the collision of technology, energy, and democracy; the rapid expansion of AI data centers and their toll on Indigenous communities, Communities of Color, and rural areas; the legacy of nuclear weapons; and the affordability crisis reshaping how families experience the energy transition. Together, these conversations connect today's most pressing challenges to a larger question: How do communities organize and build power within democratic structures when government and industry leave them behind?

The program features acclaimed author, environmentalist, and 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben as a featured speaker in conversation with dynamic panelists to be announced and moderated by Mother Jones, Capital B News, and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

Climate Desk Live pairs sharp reporting with the voices of mayors, senators, academia, and organizers on the frontlines of the energy and affordability fight.

Save the date and reserve your seat now for this can't-miss conversation during Climate Week NYC. Full program details and additional speaker announcements will follow soon.
