During New York Climate Week 2026, the Energy Justice Law and Policy Center (EJLPC), in partnership with The Black Hive at M4BL, will host From Big Oil to Black Futures, a movement-building event about how the story of one family's fight against oil and gas extraction became a growing movement for Black climate futures.

Convened by Instituto Alziras and the Frente Nacional de Prefeitos (FNP), with the support of the Global Alliance for Care, WEDO, French Development Agency (AFD) and The Climate and Society Institute (iCS), the session closes with concrete recommendations for financiers, municipal networks, and policymakers working at the intersection of climate and care.

This panel brings together members of the Wabanaki Commission on Land and Stewardship, First Light, and other partners in this work to share insights and concrete strategies from eight years of grassroots movement building and systems change.

Building on NRDC's 2025 Climate Week conversation, this interactive session moves beyond diagnosing challenges to identifying practical solutions.

​We Build Progress, Public Citizen, Climate Justice Alliance and partners will convene state and local policymakers, advocates, organizers, and policy experts during NYC Climate Week to launch a new Data Center Policy Toolkit, an interactive resource designed to help communities respond to the rapid expansion of data centers across the country and equip policymakers with practical tools to address the harms of data center development.

The Institute for Policy Integrity’s annual conference, during NYC Climate Week, will focus on progress and possibilities for the energy transition in the current political landscape, and strategies for generating support from diverse constituencies. Speakers will share insights from their work in federal government, the private sector, major media outlets, and community and policy organizations. Guests can register to attend in person or virtually.

This event convenes a powerhouse lineup of community leaders, mayors, scientists, researchers, and journalists. Across three dynamic panel conversations, we’ll examine the collision of technology, energy, and democracy; the rapid expansion of AI data centers; the legacy of nuclear weapons; the toll of these developments on Indigenous communities, communities of color, and rural areas; and the affordability crisis and what it will take for everyday people to build power and shape real solutions.
